The word of God is a person, and that person is Jesus Christ, as stipulated in John 1 vs 1-12. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
There was a man sent from God whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Verse 14 of this chapter clearly shows that the Word was Jesus Christ, who came from God and dwelled amongst us. The reality of the word of God is predicated on Jesus Christ, who died, was buried, and he rose on the third day. It should be highlighted that no man is born again outside the word of God as stipulated by 1 Peter 1 vs 23 For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. Because to become a Christian is through hearing and believing the message of Christ. The spiritual growth of a believer is made possible through the word of God as shown in the book of 1 Peter 2 vs 2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation. The word of God, which is the message of Christ, must be made available to those who are yet to receive Christ as their Lord and personal savior. The message of Christ should be made available through preaching (Mark 4vs 23, Titus 1 vs 1-3, 1 Corinthians 2 vs 4, 1 Corinthians 1 vs 18). The message of the gospel must be facts that are centered on the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
It should be noted that the bible is not the word of God, but it contains the word of God. The Bible is Christ-centered material, which means that from Genesis to the book of Revelation, it’s all about Jesus. When we read the Old Testament, we must see Jesus Christ in types and shadows. The Old Testament is Jesus concealed, while the New Testament is Jesus revealed. To fully understand the Old Testament, we must see it through the eyes of the New Testament. The word of God, which is contained in the Bible, should be our focal point as Christians. We should be addicted to reading the word of God, and the bible should be our most read and favorite book. We must read the Word of God to understand the message of Jesus Christ (Galatians 3:13-16).
